Sounds Of A Hail Storm – Sound Effect Story

I picked this topic of sounds because I was on the commuter bus this last Wednesday on my way home from work. We were just about to get off of the HOV on 95 and it started raining a little, then it started progressing faster and then all of the sudden the skies were so dark. I turned to a friend of mine on the bus and asked” Do you see how dark it is?” Then I stated “it looks like that movie about the end of the world.” Then the hail started and it seems like no one was moving on 95, it took me almost 2 hours and 45 minutes to get home. When we got to Fredericksburg, there was sun and a little rain and no hail made it there. When I got off the bus, there were cracks all across the windshield from the hail we ran into. That was creepy and a little scary, I really do not like being out in thunderstorms and hail.

Due to the fact I had to start all over, I did not use audacity, I decided to try out the GarageBand on my new computer. πŸ™‚

  1. Hey Yvette! Try to make all of your links clickable! Also, try to hyperlink the sounds that you found, that way it would help other people get to the site. Other than that, great storm progression!

  2. Hi Yvette! your project sounds great! I like how it started from the rain drops and ended up with the hail! Nice work! I also like the way you explain all your steps in details! Good luck with learning new programs and your new computer πŸ˜‰ It can get challenging.

  4. Hey Yvette,
Great job with creating sounds of nature that sound realistic. I really liked the combination of the audios towards the end of the track. The first five seconds were a little bit confusing to me. At first, I thought you were trying to create footsteps as you walked your way to the bus. Then, I read the comments and figured you were trying to create a light drizzle of rain. That small segment could use some improvement. Also, be careful on your grammar. There were a few run-on sentences in your description. Overall, you did great! I was imagining a big thunderstorm as I listened to your audio.

    • Thank you Kriezl,

Yes, actually due to my problems with connectivity to the internet and computer issues, I did not hear it until it was too late to pick another sound. I was not able to get back connected until 12 pm and so many other assignments to catch up on and forgot to edit it. Thanks for pointing it out.
